Namibia where the stunning Namib Desert and the broad Kalahari Desert make up this gorgeous country, as well as plenty of diverse bushland where an array of unique and captivating wildlife can be found.

Namibia is known for its large amounts of cheetahs and elephants as well as flocks of unique and exquisite bird life. Trained professionals are on hand to make sure you visit the best areas of the bush that house a variety of animals, ensuring you get that perfect picture of a member of the Big 5 or various other big game animals.

The Etosha National Park is one of the best and most intriguing game reserves you can visit in Namibia. Its huge expanse of white landscape roamed by all kinds of wildlife is what makes it so popular – there is no doubt that it will become your favourite destination in this unique country. Etosha National Park has herds of some of the largest elephants in Southern Africa, is famous for its significant numbers of endangered black rhino and is also the home of giraffe, Hartmann’s mountain zebra and many types of antelope. On the plains it is not uncommon to see thousands of springbok, while the roan antelope and red hartebeest are not as likely to be seen. However, if you are after a look at these beautiful creatures, this is the ideal park to visit.

Namibia is unique. How many countries can claim two deserts, a tropical forest and a breath-taking stretch of the Atlantic Ocean, all within the same border? But these sceneries are only as impressive as the treasures that they hold. A look at Namibia’s historical sites reveal a country seemingly stuck in between eras. The ancient culture of the Himba people merges with remnants reclaimed by the desert of Namibia’s time as a German colony, a legacy still seen in the beautiful architecture of its cities today. The country is also home to 2 national parks, both a far cry from one another in terms of landscape.

Dedicated To Creating Tailor-Made Itineraries

To discover everything that Namibia has to offer would require a sizable amount of time. Fortunately, East Cape Tours has done just that with the ‘14-day Self Drive Namibia Tour’. The travel package allows you to go at your own pace across Namibia’s beautiful landscapes. Namibia’s well-developed roads and infrastructure only make the journey even more appealing. While Namibia’s cities hold their own cultural appeal, the essence of the country is seen in its natural landscapes. These will all be visited during the tour. The Fish River Canyon Park, the Etosha National Park as well as the Kalahari Desert and Namib Desert stretching for 1000 km alongside the Atlantic Ocean can all be seen. A similar package can be enjoyed, albeit with transport provided. The ‘14-day Namibia Package’ does exactly that, with a few extra stops in between. Another self-drive option is the ’14 Day Gems of Namibia Tour’. Not only can this tour be tailored to suit traveller’s individual preferences, but it is also ideal for anybody from honeymooners to avid stargazers. Tour members will enjoy the sights of Windhoek and the wildlife of three game reserves before moving onto the geological wonders of Twyflefontein. The tour also includes a visit to the coastal town of Swakopmund where desert activities like quad-biking merge with ocean experiences like dolphin cruises. The tour then finishes off in the very Instagram-friendly salt pan of Sossuslei. However you choose to tweak this itinerary, you can rest assured that you will enjoy only the best accommodation, from luxury desert lodges to boutique guesthouses.

Sossusvlei trades the lush vegetation of other African locales for an arid desert landscape. This does not mean that it is any less beautiful. From environmentalists to avid photographers, Sossuslvei and its saltpans holds something profound for everybody who walks upon it. But an excursion to the saltpans are only one half of a Sossusvlei getaway. Enjoy game drives, adventure activities or just sit by the pool with book in hand while you find new life in a desolate landscape. East Cape Tours can help you do it all.

Many know of Sossusvlei but few have stepped foot on its cracked surface. While Sossusvlei and many other dry saltpans are located in the middle of the desert, there are still many fine accommodations from which to experience all that the area has to offer. The dry saltpans are not the only draw of the Sossusvlei area. Visitors can enjoy the landscape and the wildlife that tread upon it from a hot-air balloon, a safari vehicle, quad bike or even their own two feet on one of the area’s many walking trails.

Swakopmund

Swakopmund is found on Namibia’s coastline just to the north of Walvis Bay. Although it is often referred to as a beach resort, don’t expect the waters of the Atlantic Ocean to be warm! The cold Benguela current is present and therefore some bravery is required to go swimming. However, there are plenty of other things to do in Swakopmund and the beaches are lovely for playing and picnicking. In fact, it is regarded as Namibia’s most popular holiday destination and as the adventure sports capital of the country as well.

The name Swakopmund is German for ‘Mouth of the Swakop’ and this city is situated in the Namib Desert. Since the city is surrounded by plenty of sand many like to take advantage of the fun activities that go along with it. The sandy area surrounding it is called the West Coast Recreational Area and here you can take part in a number of activities ranging from sandboarding and quad biking to hot air ballooning and skydiving. For those who like to keep their feet firmly on the ground we highly recommend sandboarding.

The Etosha National Park is one of the best and most intriguing game reserves you can visit in Namibia. Its huge expanse of white landscape roamed by all kinds of wildlife is what makes it so popular – there is no doubt that it will become your favourite destination in this unique country.

Protecting this astonishingly large natural feature is the Etosha National Park of approximately 22000 square kilometres. Although this is a predominantly dry area, there are several waterholes and these draw in the animals like moths to a flame! For this reason you can almost be guaranteed plenty of excellent wildlife viewings. You can certainly go with confidence to this park knowing that you will tick many animals from your list.

The Etosha National Park is also extremely popular for its approximately 340 recorded bird species. There are beautiful blue cranes and secretary birds, and ostriches and various unusual kinds of vultures, hawks and falcons are often seen. Etosha is therefore a spectacular destination for all fans of feathery creatures.
