Victoria Falls, the smoke that thunders

One of The Seven Wonders of The World, the Victoria Falls, is situated in Western Zimbabwe. The Victoria Falls actually makes up five different waterfalls, and four of them are located in Zimbabwe – The Devil’s Cataract, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Rainbow Falls. The Falls are stunning and are truly a once in a lifetime experience. The noise from the Falls can be heard from a distance as far as 40km! Around the Falls there is an abundance of unique and beautiful flora creating a gorgeous mini rainforest that can be explored with the magnificent Falls as a backdrop. The Big Tree is also something to look out for – a beautiful giant baobab tree that towers above us at 20m tall. The Zambezi National Park is merged with the Victoria Falls National Park and is bordered by the Zambezi River. The national park is home to the Big 5 (lion, buffalo, leopard, rhino and elephant), as well as giraffe, antelope, zebra and different type of buck, such as waterbuck, eland, kudu and impala. An array of accommodation is also offered in the national park, including lodges, fishing camps, camping sites and picnic sites for day visitors. 

The Hwange National Park

The Hwange National Park is the largest national park in Zimbabwe, and has been a national park since 1929, acting as a royal hunting ground before for a 19th century Ndebele king. The park boasts over 100 different mammal species and 400 bird species, making it a haven for anyone wanting a true animal spotting safari. Hwange National Park is renowned for its beautiful elephant herds and the park has one of the largest elephant populations in the world. The elephants are their pride and joy and conservation efforts are put into place to protect them. The expansive park has world class facilities including cafes and restaurants, as well as luxury accommodation in any of the park’s three distinctive camps, namely – Main Camp, a camp rich in big game; Exclusive Camps, comprising of smaller units for small groups; Isilwane Lodge, a lavish lodge overlooking an artificial waterhole; and Deka Camp, the ultimate family unit.
